Quote: | For the Jew, no human--no matter how great--could be equated in any way with G_d. |
Hmmm...thats' exactly how Muslims feel about "Allah."
This begs the questions:
Is Allah the same deity as Hashem?
Is it feasible to walk in the shoes of a Muslim and not feel contempt toward Judaism and Christianity?
There is only one way to Peace. Love God and Love fellow man, as taught by Y'shua.

Exactly!
And to think that Yeshua rightly summarized the entire Laws into these two precepts by stating that following them would fulfill the Laws and the Prophets.
Problem is, no one seems to follow all the Laws and Prophets nor has the world been able to follow just the two that Yeshua summarized.
Even Muslims, who "claim" to revere Yeshua do not heed His teachings about putting the sword away. Any wonder why we cannot have peace of earth and goodwill toward men?
If people continue to take the position of "an eye for an eye" and "a tooth for a tooth" this world will soon become blind and toothless! lol
Conclusion: Peace requires 100% cooperation.

As the story of Jesus summarizing his people's Torah in two sentences, so did--for Jews--perhaps the most impt. Rabbi of that same period also...Hillel.
This story tells of a Gentile challenging Hillel to summarize the Torah while standing on one foot. He responded," Love Thy neighbor as thyself..." Famous also for the Jewish version (not that Jesus' wasn't also) of the Golden Rule...
Check out the Wikipedia summary, etc.

Cool! So we have three (3) Jewish teachers agreeing on the same principle of how to affect change in the world through loving God and loving mankind, as originally instructed by The Righteous Words of Hashem.
And so it is that we three can certainly agree as well, among many others!
However, the problem remains that not everyone has been able to follow those two precepts of The Law. Not even "religious leaders" of all faiths.
Please recall that Y'shua chided the the Jewish religious leaders (Pharisees and Saducees) for that very reason by stating that they were adding more burdens upon the people and actually leading them away from God and into religious rituals, teachings, and burdensome traditions of men. Any wonder He was more popular with the general population and not the religious leadership?
Y'shua reminded religious leaders, scribes and lawyers of many things that they had previously been told. An example from Mark, Chapter 7:
(verses:)
4: And when they come from the market, except they wash, they eat not. And many other things there be, which they have received to hold, as the washing of cups, and pots, brasen vessels, and of tables.
5: Then the Pharisees and scribes asked him, Why walk not thy disciples according to the tradition of the elders, but eat bread with unwashen hands?
6: He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.
7: Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
8: For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do.
9: And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.
Conclusion: The same applies to this day.

Mon Mar 05, 2007 10:16 am Too much ritual, etc.

And the Hebrew Prophets, like Isaiah and Micah, said such things as,"What does the Lord require of thee? Do justice , love mercy, and walk humbly with thy G_d;" and, "Offer me not vain sacrifices if you do not justice to the widow, the ortphan, and the under privileged;" etc.
Man will always fall short of the expectations of great leaders.
But it's important for those leaders to periodically arise to get their fellow back on track...

Cameron is claiming to have DNA evidence... DNA evidence compared to what? Isn't this the same guy that claimed to be "the king of the world"? I guess it makes sense that he'd be the one to try to disprove the REAL King.

DNA evidence only proves that this was a family tomb
It does not prove that it was the tomb of biblical J & his family, even if the names are familiar ; for these names were very common in this era as has already been stated by other experts

But even the "great leaders" fall short of expectations, thus, God needs to get them back on track: i.e.:
Abraham: Listened to Sara and took Hagar to father Ishmael, not believing that God would be able to allow Sara to give birth in her old age.
Moses: Did not obey God's command about speaking to the stone to bring forth water, thus, was prohibited from entering the Promised Land.
King David: Took the wife of a faithful soldier, sired a child with her and had her husband placed in harms way to be killed.
King Solomon: Married pagan wives and defiled the Temple of God by establishing tabernacles honoring their false gods.
Conclusion: The Truth is that people need to do more than just "believe in God," people must Believe God!

The Renewed Covenant doesn't hide the faults of the Apostles... it's the Messiah who is without blemish. Also, Yah physically appeared to Abraham in Bereshith/Gen. 18 so we know from Jewish perspective/Torah that Yah comes in human form.

Correct!
The NT holds a mirror to every person and shows that we all fall short of the Glory of God. Sins are specifically listed showing the fallen nature of mankind and how all are in need of a Saviour.
Solomon broke the Covenant between God and mankind, thus the necessity of the New Covenant and High Priest represented in Yeshua HaMashiach.
Conclusion: God did for mankind what Abraham was going to do for God.

NO
Misunderstood- He revealed Himself in the form of the 3 men , messengers or angels, whatever you wish to call them, who came to fulfil 3 jobs
God Himself NO NO

Quote: | Bereshith 18:1 "And the YHWH appeared unto him" |

Quote: | 18:3&4 And said, My Lord, if now I have found favour in thy sight, pass not away, I pray thee, from thy servant: Let a little water, I pray you, be fetched, and wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree |
Abraham washes His feet.
18:5-8 Abraham feeds Him.
18:9-14 He has a conversation with Abraham about Sarah's soon pregnancy.
Three men (YHWH and the two angels) were with Abraham in Bereshith 18 and then there were only two men/angels in Sodom in Bereshith 19.

Which is it... NT is made out to be perfection or shown to have many faults? How was Yahushua faulty?
