Two Israelis win Nobel Chemistry prize
By ASSOCIATED PRESS
STOCKHOLM, Sweden
Israelis Aaron Ciechanover and Avram Hershko and American Irwin Rose won the 2004 Nobel Prize in chemistry on Tuesday for their work in discovering ubiquitin-mediated protein degradation.
Ciechanover, 57; Hershko, 67; and Irwin Rose, 78, were honored by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences for their work in the 1980s that discovered one of the cell's most important cyclical processes, regulated protein degradation.
"Thanks to the work of the three laureates it is now possible to understand at molecular level how the cell controls a number of central processes by breaking down certain proteins and not others," the academy said in its citation. "Examples of processes governed by ubiquitin-mediated protein degradation are cell division, DNA repair, quality control of newly-produced proteins, and important parts of the immune defense." |

When will Arab and Muslim countries get Nobel prizes?
When will they educate their people to do things for humanity, instead of teaching them HATE?
More Jews and Israelis received Nobel prizes than any other people in the world per capita... They did so much for the human race... |

Between 1901 and 2003, 735 Nobel Prizes were handed out. Of these, 161 are Jews.
So now the numbers are 741 Nobel Prize laureates since 1901 of whom 163 are Jews. It is not clear if any of the Nobel Prizes in Physics awarded yesterday (David J. Gross, H. David Politzer, Frank Wilczek) went to Jews as well or whether the American Irwin Rose (third person to receive the prize in chemistry) is Jewish. |

Seems like that our arab neighbours think that a Nobel prize can only be won by creating dynamite |

Son père, ingénieur et autodidacte, est un juif tchèque venant d'un milieu pauvre mais cultivé, proche de «Vienne la Rouge». |
